{ The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo } Inspirational Photoshoot

Over the Christmas break, I went to see the newest version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in the theatres.  Now, I had no idea what I was in for,

but I’m really glad I went.  The photography/cinematography in the most recent remake with Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara is just phenomenal.  Now, I’m not an intense critic of movies, but I do understand lighting, composition, and mood.  And let me tell you, artistically, the movie was spot on!  I really enjoyed *most* of the aesthetics.  So, when a friend of mine, Jenn, suggested doing a The-Girl-with-the-Dragon-Tattoo-inspired photoshoot, I was all over it!  Jenn and the rest of the crew did a fantastic job.  Here is just a snippit of the shoot.  I know this isn’t my typical photography style (and yet still isn’t as dark as the movie), but I really loved working a different mood.

Beautiful shoot! Out of curiosity, did you read the book? If not, I’ll have to pick your brain about it, because I was honestly disappointed when I saw it from a storytelling standpoint. Primarily, I felt that you would have had NO idea what was happening (especially in the first 30 minutes or so) if you didn’t read the book–which I think is a no-no for book adaptations. Artistically, I thought it was gorgeous (as expected from David Fincher), but I thought he edged a little too close to the dark side of fetishization (vs. artistic portrayal) of the several rapes of Lisbeth–though I admit I am definitely NOT one of those people who thinks rapes should ever be portrayed for entertainment. But I digress, as usual. Gorgeous photos, my friend!
